{"id":1832,"date":"2020-10-05T15:30:05","date_gmt":"2020-10-05T22:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jim-zimmerman.com\/?p=1832"},"modified":"2020-10-05T15:30:05","modified_gmt":"2020-10-05T22:30:05","slug":"connect-mysql-workbench-to-an-aws-instance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jim-zimmerman.com\/?p=1832","title":{"rendered":"Connect MySQL Workbench to an AWS Instance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<li>Download and install MySQL Workbench.<\/li>\n<li>Open MySQL Workbench.<\/li>\n<li>Select MySQL New Connection and enter a connection name.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the Connection Method, and select Standard TCP\/IP over SSH.<\/li>\n<li>For SSH Hostname, enter the public IP address of your EC2 instance.<\/li>\n<li>For SSH Username, enter the default SSH user name to connect to your EC2 instance.<\/li>\n<li>Choose SSH Key File, and select the .pem file used to connect from your file system.<\/li>\n<li>For MySQL Hostname, enter the database endpoint name.<\/li>\n<blockquote><p>To find the endpoint name:<br \/>\nLogin in AWS console.<br \/>\nClick Services, and search for RDS (Managed Relational Database Service).<br \/>\nClick on Databases.<br \/>\nClick on the DB Identifier under the cluster DB Identifier you to connect to using MySql Workbench.<br \/>\nThe endpoint for that database will be displayed under Connectivity &#038; security.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<li>For MySQL Server Port, enter the port number that you use to connect to your database.<\/li>\n<blockquote><p>This will be in the same location as the identifier.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<li>For Username, enter the user name that you use to connect to your database.<\/li>\n<li>For Password, enter the MySQL user password.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Test Connection.
