Merry Christmas, I got you a new toy. A Samsung
Galaxy Tab. Cool. Let’s’ check out Pandora. Oopps. Hard crash. Can’t turn it on or anything. Had plenty of battery. No choice but to reset.
Soft reset:
Hold down the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time.
Release them when you see the startup screen.
Use the Volume Up and Volume Down to choose an option. There were four of which I remember “system reboot” and “factory reset”.
Push the Home button to confirm.
ive forgotten my password and cant reset my galaxy tab is there another way of resetting
I think this method should still work. You would just choose the “factory reset” option from the menu.
I started the factory reset on my Galaxy tab and it’s been stuck on a “downloading” screen for at least two hours. (The screen with the yellow triangle).
Is this normal? Should I wait longer, or can I interrupt the process?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Luiz Neme
It definitely should not take that long. I would turn it off (hold the power button until it went off), and try again. It should take only minutes (maybe 10).
Thank you so much Jim. You were absolutely correct.
Now it’s working fine.
Best rergards.
it seems that it is going to work. we did everything you said , but it seems that it has froze , unless its just taking a long time to delete everything . its a green man , with a white trisngle & an orange exclimation mark.Is this supposed to happen ?
It should not take anymore than a few minutes. It took mine about ten minutes to come back up. I would recommend soft resetting it first by holding down the power button until it restarts. Then, if you still need to reset it, try again.
Hi, my daughter has put a password on my samsung galaxy tab. I have followed the reset instructions on this page but nothing is happening? I have put the right password in several times but it’s not accepting it, so i can’t get past the passcode… ?????
@renaye
You did a factory reset too? That will definitely get you back in. Turn the Tab off. Then, hold the Up volume button and the Power button. YOu should get a menu of which one of the options is “factory reset/wipe data”. I would remove your external SD card, if you have one, just to try to preserve that data.
If you get the download with the caution sign, it’s because your pressing the wrong volume button, try the other one.
@Edge
Note: The volume down puts the Tab in Download mode (caution sign), and the volume up puts it in Recovery Mode.
I put a password on my Samsung galaxy tab 3 yesterday, and I keep putting my password over and over again but isn’t working. What should I do?
If you really don’t know it, then you are more than likely are going to need to factory reset it. I am not sure if it the same procedure on the 3 as it is on the original Galaxy Tab. It more than likely is. If you are prepared to factory reset, try following the procedure I outlined in this post.
I forgot my password to my galaxy tablet 3.. I tryed holding down the volume n power button but it doesn’t do nuttin..
@ally
For the Galaxy Tab 3, I think it is Power and the Volume Up button to put into menu to reset it.
I’ve forgot my password for my tab 3 and have tried to reset factory setting but all that happens is once I’ve took my finger off the power button ad kept my finger on the volume up, it just says in the bottom left hand corner, ‘safe mode’. Not sure what to do??? Help?????
@Paul
For the Galaxy Tab 3, I think it is Power and the Volume Up button to put into menu to reset it. So, power it off. Hold the Volume Up button and then the power. Hold it that way until you get the startup screen.
Hi my son put a password in his samsung galaxy tab 3 and niw it wont accept it .iv done everything that you said to do only when I select the factory reset and it goes on to the next menu its jumping twice so therefore it wont land on the yes . Its driving me mad so im hopping you can help thx
Sounds like an issue with your volume rocker. Try to get there going to the other way around. In other words, if you were using the down, use the up to navigate.
@carmel i am having exactly the same problem as you, my button is jumping 2 lines and wont stop on the required action
can someone help
Have tried using opposite rocker button to go the opposite direction? Maybe, the one you are using is just sticking.
